What do you call something that is limp, does nothing, and is “cold” until you put your hand on it. I’ll give you three guesses. Nope. Sorry. You really are a sicko. The answer is, a remote control. Someone at Panasonic had the bright idea to make a remote control out of gel that responds to the touch of the human hand. When it’s off, it’s limp, doesn’t move, and looks a lot like, well… Anyway, when it senses a hand approaching, the remote becomes rigid, appears to “warm up” (from a small led light inside it), and becomes responsive. Seriously, we really need this?
I’ve seen some strange things in my day, but this slideshow takes the cake. The gist of the slideshow is modifications people have made to surgical masks (ala SARS, SwineFlu, etc.). I don’t really understand what a (hockey) Goalie’s helmet or paper bags have to do with it, but OK..
Guitar Hero: Van Halen has been announced by Activision. No word if it will be a Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth, or “best of both worlds” version, but there will be songs from VH fans and influences Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer, Queen, and The Offspring. The game is expected out sometime during the second half of 2009.
It seems you can’t go more than about a week before a rumor surfaces that says “Apple in talks to by [X]“, with [X] being whatever company is hot and not already owned by Apple, Google, or Microsoft. The lastest target is Twitter. Rumor has it Apple is “seriously considering” purchasing the microblogging service. But as Fortune Magazine puts it in black-and-white; What Apple has been rumored to purchase, and what they’ve actually bought, are two completely different things.
